  • Establish a baseline energy use to assess the energy consumption
  • Turn off lights and eqipment when not in use
  • Install LED (light-emitting diode) "EXIT" signs
  • Install lighting occupancy sensors
  • Adjust thermostats when buildings are unoccupied
  • Use the energy saving feature on printers, monitors, copiers, and computers
  • Replace your HVAC filters as required
  • Use energy efficient office equipment
  • Don't use screen savers, which prevent computers from going into power-saver mode
  • Make double-sided copies whenever possible
  • Turn off the copier at night
  • Properly service all refrigeration and boilers

Residential

  • Reduce the temperature of the hot water heater
  • Insulate the hot water heater or hot water tank
  • Switch to compact florescent lights-CFL
  • install low flow shower heads
  • Unplug all charging devices
  • Add the proper amount of insulation to the attic
  • Only do full loads of laundry and dishes
  • Replace old appliances with the new energy efficient appliances
  • In the summer, close the blinds & shades and set your air conditioner to 75-78 ºF / 24-26
